A Pharr man, 61‑year‑old Martin Hernandez Alvarado, was found guilty by a Hidalgo County jury on June 17 and sentenced by Judge Bobby Flores on Oct. 19 to 40 years in prison for continuous sexual abuse of a child and an additional 20 years for indecency with a child, to run concurrently. The case stemmed from allegations received by the Pharr Police Department on March 17, 2021, involving children aged 6 to 12. Residents will note the 40‑year prison term imposed.
