Brush and Bulk Pick‑Up
Place brush and bulky items at least 6 ft away from overhangs, wires, parked cars, telephone boxes, gas or water meters, etc. Keep brush bagged and separate from bulky items; acceptable brush items are bagged grass, leaves, and tree limbs not longer than 8 ft. Acceptable bulky items include chairs, mattresses, sofas, stoves, tables, washers/dryers and water heaters. Call (956) 546‑HELP for questions or special pickups.
Residential Recycling
Redfish Recycling delivers the red curbside recycling cart to all eligible homes; collections begin in January 2026 and occur every other week. Set the cart out by 7:00 a.m. on collection day, wheels facing your house and at least 3 ft from other objects. Accepted materials are paper, cardboard, #1‑#2 plastics and metal cans; glass, plastic bags, Styrofoam, food waste and batteries are not accepted. Missed pickups are reported to Redfish at (956) 299‑8025.
Trash (Solid Waste) Collection
Republic Services was selected to provide residential solid‑waste (trash) collection for the City of Brownsville. The cost of trash collection will increase by $0.86 per month and is reflected on the monthly utility bill. For general service questions you may contact the city’s 546‑HELP Support Center.
